Track #5 from the “Every
Breath You Take” playlist is “The Power of Love” by Celine Dion.

Figure," by George Michael
Track No. 4 - "Rise," by Herb Alpert
While “Every Breath You
Take,” is definitely psychological suspense about a woman who is stalked and
kidnapped, a funny thing happened along the way – it became a love story (I
realize this sounds strange on the surface, considering the subject matter, but
I promise, there’s a method to my madness). Being an author who doesn’t always
have a roadmap while she’s writing, the characters inspired me to take several
sharp left turns during the trip. Ultimately, I’m really happy with the final
destination.
Co-written by Jennifer Rush,
who took the song to No. 1 in a bazillion countries back in 1984, “The Power of
Love” has gone on to become a pop standard. Much like “La Vie en Rose,” it is
an oft-covered song, Air Supply and Laura Branigan being just two of the acts
who’ve recorded it with varying degrees of success.
I’m partial to the Celine
Dion version (which went to No. 1 in the U.S. back in 1994). It’s a lush, soaring
rendition and the haunting melody and poetic lyrics stay with you long after
the last note.
